Leon Brown
Leon Brown was born on July 3, 1927 in Victoria, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Americus Brown.
After graduating from Victoria High School, Mr. Brown continued his education at Prairie View A&M. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Prairie View A&M in 1948 and his Master’s Degree in 1963.
Mr. Brown wed Cleo Brown in 1957 and the couple had two children, Tyra Brown and the late Andrea Deon.
Mr. Brown spent 37 years in the field of Education. He was a teacher and a coach at Booker T. Washington High School in the Dallas Independent School District and at Forney High School in the Forney Independent School District. He later moved to South Oak Cliff High School in the Dallas ISD as the head of the science department. From 1972-1985, Mr. Brown served as a science teacher/coordinator of the Bishop College High School Science Program for the talented and gifted science students in the Dallas Independent School District.
Throughout his career in education, Mr. Brown received numerous awards from the Dallas Independent School District and was selected to participate in the development and field testing of mini courses for Florida State University at South Oak Cliff. He presented research findings to the National Institute of Science and the National Convention of Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Society.
